Episode #8: Matters of the Heart (& Brain)
Ready to record in Jon's garage.
“The heart needs time to catch up with the brain....When you heart catches up, it’s just can’t take it and you break.”
“When you have these expectations of yourself, and have these things like ‘I have to protect my wife’ and you’re faced with a situation and you can’t or didn’t, you feel like you failed and that adds to (the) breaking (of) your brain, never mind your heart. ”
I don’t think anyone would disagree with this statement: When we grieve, our heart breaks. But what happens when your brain tries to wrap itself around a new reality - one that doesn’t include the loved one that was lost? Does our brain break too?
When Jon looks back, he can think of three distinct ways his grief impacted his thinking and how he behaved and reacted to people around him. They are, all at once, extreme and normal.
He would have loved to know about these matters of the heart and brain. That’s why he’s sharing it here.
You are not alone. Nor should you be.
(40 minutes)
“You (can) go through these bizarre things for the simple fact that you can’t handle the reality.”
Post-Podcast Regrets
It’s funnier that it looks.
